How to Find Us

From the west:

From Vancouver: take the beautiful drive along Highway 3 via Hope, Princeton, Osoyoos, Grand Forks & Castlegar.

From Kelowna: Highway #33 to Rock Creek, then follow Highway #3.

From the north (Revelstoke/New Denver)
Head south along Highway 23 (via Shelter Bay/Galena ferry) then Highway 6 via Slocan Valley & Highway 3 (then follow Directions below). Alternate route: New Denver to Nelson via Kaslo, Highway 31A, then Highway 3A (as below).

From the south (Spokane/Salmo)
From Spokane, WA head north up Interstate #2, then 211, 20 & 31 via Cuskick & Metaline. After the border Highway 6 takes you to Nelson via Salmo, which joins up to Highway 3. Follow directions below.

Directions to Hostel via Highway 3:
Coming into Nelson, drive straight through the 4-way stop (don’t turn onto Baker St). Follow the highway (now Vernon Street) straight ahead. At the stoplight (intersection of Ward Street/Hume hotel on the corner) where the Highway turns towards the lake, get into the right hand lane & continue straight along Vernon Street for 4 blocks. Next block, past Extra Foods – WELCOME TO THE WHITEHOUSE, big white house mid-block on your right.

From the east:

From Calgary: Head south down highway #2 and #22 . Turn west on highway #3 via Coleman, Fernie, Cranbrook and Creston.

Alternatively: Go west on highway #1 via Banff, turn off on highway #93 towards Radium, then on to Cranbrook and Creston.

From Creston you can either take Kootenay Pass (3, 6) or Kootenay Lake Ferry (3A).

Directions to Hostel via Kootenay Pass:
From Creston head west to Nelson via Salmo. After Salmo your’e on Highway 6, which joins up with Highway 3. Follow Directions to Hostel via Highway 3 as above.

Directions to Hostel via Kootenay Lake Ferry route (Highway 3A):
Turn left onto highway when exiting the ferry. Follow highway into Nelson over the Big Orange Bridge (known affectionately as BOB). Stay on this main road (it changes names several times). Continue on till Hall Street (traffic light, tourist info sign), turn left up hill, then first street on your left is Vernon. Go 1 block past Extra Foods – WELCOME TO THE WHITEHOUSE, big white house mid-block on your right.
